Two adult monarch butterflies, flying around a large patch of chamisa (rabbitbrush). I assume they were nectaring on the chamisa, but I didn't see this actually occur during my observation period. I also didn't see the two individuals interacting with each other.
Though late in its phenology, the chamisa still had approximately 20 percent open flowers (the rest in fruit).
