Signs of Fall

Date: 11/03/2017

Number: 1

Saw my first juncos of the season today - 2 males, fighting for dominance - not used to seeing that in these birds; they usually feed and stay together in the yard w/o any competitive behavior. Welcome home, sweet birds!! I always look forward to the hummers in the spring and the juncos in the fall.

It's a beautiful day with temperatures rising from the 30s overnight to the 60s this afternoon.

Also saw a male red-winged blackbird calmly eating and hanging out --- guess he didn't get the memo that it's time to go, but glad he found a safe haven to stop at as he passes through on his way south.
