Today near Huntsville TX, I was on a field trip to a nice prairie remnant and started to notice large Monarchs drifting by, about one per minute. Flight was strongly directional at about four to six feet. This continued while we stayed at that location. Not much is still blooming with the late heat and spotty rains. There is a little Goldenrod and some Baccharis still blooming that they could use. Some asters. Estimated temperature was 92 degrees with plenty of humidity.
