With time short before cold temperatures (low 20s F) move in Friday night, 24 Monarch Butterflies took advantage of the 60F warmth despite clouds. 3 were observed in flight, one was observed resting on a leaf and 20 were observed nectaring, including the monarch butterfly with the broken wing that has remained in the area for at least 11 days. Their window of opportunity to migrate may have closed with a forecast high of 50F tomorrow followed by highs of 49F and 52F (Wednesday and Thursday, respectively) before the brutal cold arrives.
