We are apparently in zone 8, so we were suppose to chill (refrigerate) the bulbs and plant in January.
Seeing that we are on the border line of zones requirements, we choose to do an experiment, and plant some of the bulbs in November (without chilling) and the rest in January. We planted 40 bulbs on November 1 in a dedicated bed. We will plant the rest in January in a separate bed, after they are chilled in a refrigerator for several months. We are curious as to how much difference the chilling of the bulbs makes in their growth.
