Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 02/01/2018

Number: 25

A robin was singing loud and persistently this morning. They are here all winter, feeding on berries of trees and shrubs. I believe the pacing was more like the true song and did not have the squeaky notes of the dawn song.

I suspect it is just the day length and rising hormones. They are still moving around. I watched a flock today (2/2) feeding on hawthorn fruit. It liked there were males and females in the flock of 25.

Editor's note: We have moved this report to Robin (WAVE Seen) since the robin was "tuning up" as hormone level rise rather than proclaiming territory which is meant to drive off other robins and a prelude to nesting.
