Sightings report image

Date: 02/12/2018

Number: 1000

I am in Rincon Puerto Rico and I have been spotting over a 1,000 per day, some with tattered wings. Is this normal as they are usually in Mexico this time of year. Or is this from the various hurricanes that took place in the fall?
The monarchs look very healthy and continue to feed on local flowers.

On the 14th and 15th of February the sightings dropped to about 200 and 300 respectfully over a six hour time period.

Weather is Sunny, temps in the 80’s and a strong ENE wind of 25 mph with wind gusts up to 30 mph for all days. So far today have spotted about 300 in 3 hours weather is the same, Area is very lush and tropical. Everyday there is a 10 minute rain shower. Lots of nectoring plants though no milkweed in the existing area.

Rincon is on the water on the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea.
