Robin (First SEEN)

Date: 02/25/2018

Number: 1

Around noon. it was around 1:00...probably too late in the day to call it the morning song, and much too early for the evening song. But I'd be hesitant to call it the true song, since most of the robins here have yet to disperse from their winter flocking behavior. There is no snow cover, but I'm not seeing them "out and about" in open grassy areas yet. And I haven't seem any sparring. Plus, the singing isn't widespread. It was the first I heard, and I haven't heard any since. So...im not sure what to call it. Perhaps a new category? Just warming up?

Editor's note: We have moved this report to Robin (FIRST Seen) since the robin was "tuning up" as hormone level rise rather than proclaiming territory which is meant to drove off other robins and a prelude to nesting.
