Robin (Nesting Behavior)

Date: 02/28/2018

Number: 2

This pair was very busy building their nest. 1 to 3 inches of snow coming. Stay under cover you two.

This pair of robins was about 7 miles north of my home. This time of year in Mich the weather changes day to day. On 2-28-18 siting day it was around 60 with about 40 degrees the night before. Day temps have varied from upper 30s to low 40s recently, with nights 10 to 12 degrees colder.
2-4 inches of snow was predicted for today but never materialized. Our ground is bare and our berry bushes are fruitless, but ground has thawed in some areas so worms are available, tho probably not plentiful. The next week will be tough for this pair. There is plenty of water available. there is a river less than a mile from the siting and an open creek closer than that. Water levels are high, so river bank worm hunting is not available. Ther is quite a bit of farm land near by so foraging will be the norm.
