Around 2:30 to 3:30 I watched a male monarch as he flew circuits around the pasture and yard ~ at times pausing to nectar on multiple false garlic flowers. At one point as I followed him down into the pasture, he found a female monarch (resting in the grass it seems) and chased her. He and she went on a wild, fast flight upwards. I could see that she went very, very high in the sky and sailed on, while he ended up returning to his flying and nectaring. This is a photo of him nectaring on a false garlic flower (Nothoscordum bivalve).
