Hummingbird, Rufous (FIRST)
Sightings report image

Date: 03/21/2018

Number: 2

Saw the male on the 20th and got a fuzzy picture of him sent to you previously, then the female on March 21 (although she could have been there the day before as well). My male's back was entirely red-brown. I've read only way to distinguish from the Allen's is a close observation of the tail feathers, and I couldn't do that! Female seemed less feisty than the male. She allowed an Anna's female to sit next to her peacefully on the feeder. The male dive bombs any other birds.
