Today, I again saw monarchs going about all day ~ the females seeking milkweed, nectaring, and egg-laying. The males were flying, nectaring, and seeking females. Both males and females were, like yesterday, doing a lot of resting and sunbathing. At 12:30 pm it was 64 degrees F, sunny, with a light breeze, and humidity of 28%. I saw a male catch an egg-laying female and they went on to mate. On my short (2 miles) trip to our post office I saw a lovely faded monarch flying over the country road. This is a photo of a female monarch as she nectared from a wild blackberry blossom today.
