It is hard to tell by the picture if these are Red-winged or Tri-colored. We had seen the Red-wings earlier this month from a distance in large flocks and ribbons. This is the first small flock that has landed here in our yard to date Bad weather the past few days has them splitting up and looking for food. Canada and Snow geese are hanging around, also looking for food and open water, waiting for the weather to settle down.
We have had Common Red-pols here for some time, eating us out of house and home!
