We left Britton, SD around noon heading west on our way to Aberdeen, SD. Five miles west of Britton, on hwy 10 we saw 5 Bald Eagles watching a flock of Snow Geese that had stopped in a corn field to feed. Eight miles further we saw eight Bald Eagles spread out in a quarter perhaps a half a block or more apart. It looked like they might be waiting for unsuspecting geese to land somewhere around them. I have never seen this before. We drove on to Sand Lake Wildlife Refuge where there were more eagles. We saw a total of 33. There were millions of geese. It is an awesome thing to see. Right now the weather is keeping them here. Open water and feed allows them to hang out in this area until the weather settles. Snow is in the forecast as well as freezing
temps for the next couple days
