The past couple of days here at our park and in Honey Creek have been amazing for spring monarchs. For two days in a row we had 30+ monarchs hanging in a shaded area near Honey Creek foraging on a wildflower known as False Gromwell and doing aerial combat with one another. Throughout the park we are finding eggs galore on the milkweeds – it seems every time I check an Antelope Horns milkweed I find one or more eggs – the Queens are just now coming out so I can’t be positive they are all monarch eggs but I am hoping to confirm most are. We just received four inches of rain at the perfect time for milkweeds to grow so I am hopeful we will be “sending” many monarchs north in coming weeks. Gotta love Spring!!!
