This is a follow-up photo to my 4/01/2018 report (Monarch Adult Sighted). Here is a photo of a male happily drinking from this nectar-rich pink thistle (Cirsium horridulum). These thistles are an important nectar resource to the monarchs as they reproduce and make their way further north. I call them "nectar fountains" as they are filled with juicy nectar filaments. They attract and support bees, beetles, butterflies and more.
