April 10, 2018 It snowed here last Saturday (4/7) dropping down to 23. Still much colder than normal. The swamp milkweed is about the same size as last year but the common milkweed is sending out so many more runners this year and one has four inch leaves already.
Yesterday (4/9) I noticed that something was eating my common milkweed leaves. Today (4/10) I went out and got a much closer look. Something is eating them and there is small frass in there as well. I'm not jumping up and down shouting about the first eggs of the season but everything appears to me that I might actually have something good happening right now.
I'll start keeping a better eye on them.
Last April 2017 it was unseasonably warm and on the 11th it hit 80 degrees.
Last year I had an unbelievable 97 'monarch days' so I am ready for warm weather!
