First Rufus sighting April 4th. Couldn't tell whether male or female that day. However over the past week a male rufus has settled in and using our feeders competing with the overwintering Anna's. I think he's a return male from last year and is plenty spunky. He's doing some dive bombing so he's either practicing or there's a female around we haven't spotted. Arrived perhaps a week after the first tree blossums appeared. Cool cloudy wet weather prevails so far this spring. Odd nice day mixed in. Still having frosts some nights. Using 2-1 mix all winter. Doesn't freeze as easily. They seem to like it.
