Great weekend for Monarchs in the Driftwood area this past weekend.
We spotted lots of remigrants in multiple locations thru the weekend.
We saw several at our house and also some at the fields in the neighborhood.
We even saw one when we went to a late lunch about 5 miles SE of us.
The condition of these Monarchs is noticeably more worn and tattered.
We noticed it takes a bit longer before we see those in this condition to arrive in our area.
We sometimes see them into mid-May and they typically feed heavily on the Verbena and Thistle blooms around us.
We also spotted some eggs and several larvae on our walks around the neighborhood.
The Asperula milkweed is abundant and blooming....it looks like a very good crop this year.
Conditions should be great for the next few days here...lots of sun and warm temperatures.
The nights have been very cool so it may be a bit before we see some 1st Gen Monarchs in this area.
