Monarchs are here year-round, I have been collecting eggs and caterpillars through out their season--last year successfully released over 100 butterflies, lost about 4 caterpillars and had three "deformed" butterflies, lower wings did not descend. Since January have collected another 15 caterpillars, all but one successfully into chrysalis and butterflies, about 50/50 male and female. I have been leaving half the caterpillars i sight on the milkweed outside and the other half when mature enough I move into the sheltered cages with a milkweed plant.
