We were greeted with a show of red when we visited our garden on April 11. Because we only meet once per week, it is likely that they bloomed before that (in fact they were very close the week before). Our experiment bed, which was planted in October rather than refrigerated til Jan. as per protocol for our zone 8, apparently bloomed first but did not seem as healthy as our primary bed. There was an obvious difference between the two beds. The chilling of the bulbs made a difference in the quality of the plant growth and bloom.
