Gray Whale Sighted

Date: 04/22/2018

Number: 9

The NPS gray whales who return each year (and the few from other populations who have joined them) wow our minds as they glide through the waters and feed near shore just feet from us and our pounding hearts. All the Sounders who have come back this year have been staying around, often in groups of 3-4. On any given day reports of 7-9 whales around Whidbey, Camano, and Hat/Gedney Island have been the norm.
