On their facebook page the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge personell along with the help of several students from nearby Chico State University reported finding 12 monarch eggs and 38 monarch caterpillars, the oldest of which was a 4th instar, preparing to molt to a 5th instar, after surveying over 7,757 planted Asclepias speciosa milkweed stems on a 1/4 acre lot on April 27, 2018 just east of Hamilton City, California Lat./Long: 39.750665, -121.992843
