Hummingbird, Other Species Sighted

Date: 04/26/2018

Number: 1

We have seen only 1 Calliope and 1 Rufous over the past week. They keep returning throughout the day, but we are anxious to see more.

In fact I rescued the Calliope that flew into the garage...obviously hinking it could fly straight through and out the other side that has windows. Unfortunately, the windows were shut. It got stuck in the garage and no amount of effort could get it to come down from the tall ceiling to the window's sill so that I could capture it (as I have in the past to many other hummers). So I placed on the open window sill a spare red humming bird feeder with nectar and left the garage. Within 5 minutes it was sitting on the feeder "tanking" up. It stayed there for at least 20 minutes recovering and filling up. I'm grateful that the rescue was complete before the poor thing was exhausted and died.

Anyway, we are way overdue seeing crowds of hummers . Sure hope they are on their way.
