Typical of rufous males, I heard his loud wing whistle before seeing him. This is a rare visitor to the south Okanagan valley, and rarer still to see two territorial, combative species - rufous and calliope males - drinking compatibly at the same feeder. A great treat for them and me! Calliope males and females have been at the feeder for 2 weeks, with this fellow as the first rufous of 2018.
