What a day! I have never seen so many Orioles in one place at one time. There was an Oriole on every branch of the blossoming Apricot tree. It has rarely happened that the apricot tree has been in bloom when the Orioles have arrived. Today was one of those magical days. The winds were extremely strong (gusts over 100 km/h) from the south-west all day (4th day for South winds.) Unseasonably warm temperatures for the fourth day in a row; 22°C today. The day started with seeing the female which has been here singing since Wednesday. At one point I had at least a dozen; many more than I could count. Adult males, juvenile males (not full colour yet) and the lone female. They emptied the jam feeder and I had to refill it. They did not touch the nectar feeder (freshly cleaned and refilled.) The apricot tree is directly outside my kitchen window; I have never had such a joyful day of washing dishes; almost glad the dishwasher is broken. I will never forget this May the fourth.
