I returned home from an 8-day visit on the west coast on May 2nd. I refilled a feeder that was out while I was away and put a new feeder out after I had been home for a short time. I was surprised to see a male Ruby-throat almost immediately after I had put out the new feeder. No one who had been caring for my dogs, parrots and wild friends, had noticed any hummingbirds. Still, I wonder if any had arrived before my return. Yesterday, May 4th,there were two hummingbirds chasing each other. Today, the 5th, there were two hovering at a small single port feeder. They may have been a pair. I didn't have a chance to confirm the gender of either. As one drank from the feeder, the other sat in a Rose of Sharon bush, next to the feeder where the other bird was feeding. They were quite cordial to one another. I believe I may have at least three. Looking forward to more, especially the babies.
