"The ice-out on Washington Pond occurred Friday, April 20. The event is one of the sure signs of spring hereabouts and is tracked by Washington Lakes Association volunteers. Although it has seemed Lady Spring is taking her sweet old time to arrive, the ice-out date is close to that of most previous years. The exception is the ice-out of 2016, which was March 11. Other recent ice-out dates include April 14, 2017, April 21, 2015, and April 10, 2009."
