"Clark Meyer, who has recorded ice-outs at Lake Francis since 1976 and has documentation dating back to 1945, said the previous record there was April 28, 1951. He measured ice on the lake in mid-April and found 21 inches of ice, 5 inches of slush and 10 inches of snow still left to be melted near his home on the lake. Mid-April was already 10 days past the lake’s median ice-out."
