I got a call today from a local who reported seeing a monarch butterfly that spent a great deal of time in her yard today. I called Tanya back and asked her many questions including the part of town where she saw the monarch and how the butterfly behaved. Tanya reported that the monarch butterfly visited the dogwood many times. While I was on the phone with her I observed a white butterfly on the dogwood I was looking at. Dogwood isn't in bloom but has a sap luster on its leaves right now.
Voicemail transcription: "Hi Brad, my name is Tanya (redacted) and I'm just calling with a real simple question. I just want to know when do monarch butterflies start to appear in Reno, Nevada. I just saw one just now and I thought that it was kind of early and I'm just curious as to what their normal time of arrival is for Reno. My number is redacted. That's area code 775-redacted. Thank you Brad. Bye."
