Oriole (1st Baltimore)

Date: 05/09/2018

Number: 1

On time :) orusually arrive 7 days after our male hummingbirds arrive. Initially, our Lady Orioles were performing fly-bys over the orange welcome home ribbons as they scouted the habitat. Due to the cold spring in Michigan our wild honeysuckle is still in the bud stage. I placed large oranges, with the tops cut off, on top of shepard's hooks, that have small tree branches attached to them, for perching. Our ladies prefer this to nectar in feeders. They can perch on a branch, indulge in oranges, without swaying / balancing on a nectar feeder.
