I saw an ovipositing female today. There are at least two dozen eggs on my milkweed plants, but the milkweed is still too small to support a caterpillar. In the ten days or so it takes for them to hatch, the leaves may be adequate, so I'm bringing the eggs indoors to raise. This is the earliest I've ever seen a Monarch -- I'm in SW Michigan and it took me completely by surprise.
