One female nectaring on dandelions in my yard. Unfortunately my milkweed patch hadn't emerged yet, so no eggs.
It was definitely a monarch--a female. I've raised about 1,000 monarchs, so as soon as I saw it fly into the yard I knew it was one. I also got a good look at it when it was feeding on the dandelions.
I've got lots of milkweed now and I'm eagerly awaiting more arrivals, but so far haven't seen any more. I do have some giant swallowtail and question mark eggs in my rearing cage, however. I also saw an American painted lady laying eggs on the pearly everlasting, but am waiting for them to hatch before I collect them.
Monarchs are by far my favorite, so fingers crossed!
