Monarch Egg (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/23/2018

Number: 14

Female laying eggs all over milkweed (syriaca) in backyard, 8 sprouts perhaps 8” tall. Interesting that most eggs were laid on the inside rather than the outside of a leaf. Perhaps because leaves are in vertical position, and so inside leaf is less visible to predators. She fluttered around for at least 15 minutes, and frequently flew very close to me as I sat watching about 20’ away.
