Every year, new native plants are added, and there may be a different guest or circumstances that occur in the forest. This summer, one of my favorite wild guests is a solo Sand Hill Crane who has affectionately been given the nickname of "L'eggs".

I would love to know why L'eggs is alone--it's one of Mother Nature's mysteries.

Everyday, she casually, cautiously, strolls from the pasture / wetland area, and visits our yard. She's bug hunting, and helps me with master gardener maintenance--lol. I toss a little corn out in the morning and the evening; so L'eggs has become a regular guest. Generally appearing for a 7 AM stroll, sometimes again in the afternoon and always in the evening. The other day, she was startled and jumped when 6 young squirrels literally raced across her feet. She quickly regained her composure and continued with her lawn maintenance tasks. We would love to know the story behind her lonely, solo, circumstances, and are honored and privileged to share our wildlife habitat with L'eggs.
