Hummingbird, Other Species Sighted

We have had very intense hot, sunny dry weather in Triple-Digits for wks. At 7:55pm I was looking out of front door window panel worried about plants getting enough water as we have already lost 2 plants this yr. I did not realize my husband had set timers for sprinklers. I don't know w they began spraying water but was very lucky to look out at just the right time to finally catch an adult male Black-chinned swoop down & hover low to our side-walk where the sprinkler's must have been dropping fine water spray. He usually doesn't drop this low but I noticed he refused to bathe where the water was moving upward & picked the area where the spray was about 6in. from landing on the sidewalk. He only did this for a few seconds then flew to close-by Bradford Pear tree. I think it hit 103-104 degrees today. I know he appreciated the water spray. Our bird bath has been busy & we refill it often for squirrels & songbirds. Note: I have read & been told by a friend that they do this behavior but this was 1st time in my 59 yrs. that I was able to observe it! So glad I finally got to C it!
