Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 06/07/2018

Number: 5

Observed along dike road and alongside marsh impoundments on Montezuma NWR. This is part of a landscape scale conservation management for monarchs/pollinators and waterfowl/shorebirds.
Very active for monarchs with provision of multiple resources: nectar, shelter, breeding, roosting, etc.

As a retired biologist, this is my third year of overseeing the monarch program (monitoring, habitat evaluation, outreach education, tagging) at Montezuma NWR.
