Monarch Waystation #299 AKA Virginia Living Museum reports 3 monarchs seen today. A mated pair, first spotted by Volunteer Judy Molnar, spent over an hour on a blooming common milkweed in the Virginia Garden bed just in front of the Wason Ed Center. Horticulture Curator Darl Fletcher took the photo posted here about 9:28 am; the pair were gone by 11 am. While Darl was taking the photo another monarch was seen flying above the nearby staff gate headed west. The mating monarchs were both on the small side of the normal adult size range, and the female had a damaged hindwing.
