I’ve noticed a very strange thing. I have 10 larvae and several, at a very small length, are leaving the plants. I found them in the dirt, on a plant instruction tag, on barky part at bottom of plant. They are nowhere near ready to go into chrysalis stage. My plants are stressed due to abnormal amts of rain and extreme heat we are experiencing. One caterpillar was attacked by a paper wasp so I’ve moved them to the porch to dry out and hopefully be safer.
