I work at the University Park Airport near State College, PA. At about 8:05 AM today (6/24/2018) I spotted my first Monarch butterfly for 2018 as I was driving our beltloader to the FBO fueling station. The butterfly was about 20 feet away from me and I was not able to stop and make more detailed observations at that time, so, for example. I do not know its gender. It was fluttering about at 5 to 10 feet above a grassy patch (lat. 40.8533°, long. 77.8473°) near the FBO ramp.
At the time of this observation scattered clouds filled the sky and conditions were approximately:
