Monarch Waystation #271 reports a female spotted flying around the front and back yards starting just before 8 am and lingering through most of the morning for the next 3 hours as I weeded and trimmed the yards. Actively flitting around out of sight and back, seen nectaring on Swamp milkweed blooms in back and at least once trying out the sky blue trumpet blooms of Ruellia in front [see photo]. Wings seemed faded and a bit dull in flight, strong "excited" flutters all around. She was seen laying one egg on a front yard tropical milkweed through the kitchen window before I came out. Confirmed the egg [posting that photo elsewhere on JN], did a random and casual search for others but didn't find any more.
