Over the week of June 10, we found nine caterpillars of various sizes on our milkweed. We kept them in containment, and so far six have safely transformed since June 24 and returned to the wild. One pupa so far hasn't made it. Something looked off shortly after it formed--sort of caved in.

We've had a boom in backyard milkweed this year. We don't plant it, but we let the volunteers grow. This seems like a big year for it with dozens of plants throughout our garden.
