Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 07/05/2018

Number: 1

Monarchs present in the garden all day. I have one male Monarch who I consider my resident Monarch. I've been spending a lot of time working in my garden and that Monarch is out there early in the morning and still flying around late in the evening. He circles and circles the yard chasing off other males. I assume he's waiting for a female to fly through here but he isn't having much luck. I released a female yesterday afternoon but she flew way up in a tree and I haven't seen her since. I did have a faded female feeding here day before yesterday but he seemed to ignore her. I wondered if Monarchs mate more than once or if something signals a male that a female is no longer fertile.
