Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 07/09/2018

Number: 2

I observed two Monarchs chasing each other in circles in the air. As I was watching they fell to the ground and were struggling in the grass. One was on top of the other and they didn't fly away even as I knelt down and pushed the grass aside to get a better look. It was two males and they would not let go of each other or maybe one wouldn't let go of the other or maybe one thought the other was a female. They wouldn't stop whatever they were doing so I finally got my hands around the two of them and took them from the boulevard into my yard where it might be a little safer. I could feel them fluttering around in my hands. When I opened my hands they took off in separate directions.
