Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 07/10/2018

Number: 1

At the park, I saw a milkweed with leaves that had nothing but veins left. On closer inspection I saw dozens of weird caterpillars marching along the stem of the milkweed. I had just read about milkweed tussock moth larvae that can defoliate milkweed. The article advised killing them if there were more than a few. I jumped into action by tipping over the plant and stomping on most of them. I saw more at another site and they were older larvae. They're gone now.
