Found a baby robin in the grass outside my home, just a few feet from the roadway. It had fallen out of its nest in a small tree. One of the adult robins was feeding the baby on the grass, but flew away when we approached. We located the nest by looking straight up from the baby robin into the tree.
I climbed up and saw that the nest had blown sideways, but was still attached to the branch. I tried to right the nest, but it was not stable. I removed the nest, tied a basket to the branch and put the nest inside the basket, then put the baby bird inside the nest. The mother and father robin screeched with delight when they found their baby again.
