I have been hoping to see an adult monarch flying around my swamp and common milkweed patches I planted about 3-4 years ago. I have found larvae, but have never had the pleasure of seeing a monarch butterfly, till now.
The milkweeds are about 350 feet from our house, near two separate ponds. So, I can't just walk out my door as see the plants and look for larvae or adults.
Around 11AM, I walked to the pond areas with camera in hand and saw the monarch as soon as I neared the area. I watched the female sipping nectar and then laying an egg.
