Monarch Waystation #271 reports a plump 5th instar feeding on the stalk of the tropical milkweed growing in one of the front patio pots today. Note how far down the stalk the caterpillar chewed before exploring the leaf nearby. The lack of flowers on that milkweed stalk led me to find it. Did not do a diligent search; found no other caterpillars but saw feeding signs. Wasps are commonly seen in the yard so they may be eating the younger instars.
