Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 07/22/2018

Number: 14

Daven and I searched the common milkweed along shore at the State Park on South Bass Island. We went to our usual monitoring location, and in no time at all we found larvae--seemingly everywhere. Almost every other stem had a caterpillar, three stems each had 3 monarchs on them! This is the best I have ever seen, it's a great season so far. Cool and rainy, no adults seen but larvae are plentiful. Larvae ranged from 2nd to 5th instar. More pics available if needed.
