Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 07/26/2018

Number: 4

Three 1-instar larva in our yard, on common milkweed and climbing milkweed; and a 5-instar cat seen in the park on common milkweed. Also 12 larva being raised inside; four are 4-instar, from eggs I found in my lawn on July 18 (hatched the same day), 6 from eggs I found in our yard on the 21st (hatched on the 25th), 2 from eggs I found in Southridge Park (1 block away) on the 25th. These last 8 are 1st-instar. This season seems more productive than last year. Last year we had a drought in the summer and this summer has been very wet.
